Genetic drift:- if the change in gene/allele frequency occurs by chance, it is called genetic drift.
- it operates rapidly in small population.
- it is due to habit fragmentation, isolation, natural calamities or any epidemic.
- founder effect and bottleneck effects are two types of genetic drift.
Note:- don't confuse it with gene flow
Gene flow or gene migration:-
- when migration of a section of population to another place and population occurs, gene frequencies changes in the original as well as in new population .
there will be gene flow if gene migration occurs multiple times.
