Given:

Diameter of the track = 200 m

Time taken to cover = 40s

To Find:

The distance covered in 2 min 20 s

Solution:

Find the length of the circular track:

Circumference = πD

Circumference = 200π m

Find the total time taken in seconds:

2 min 20s = (2 x 60) + 20 s

2 min 20s = 140 s

Find the distance covered:

40 s =200π  m

1 s = 200π  ÷ 40

1 s = 5π m

1 s = 5π m

140 s = 5π x 140

140s = 700π

140s = 2200 m

Answer: The distance covered is 2200m
