We know that refractive index is inversely proportional to the speed of light that is if the refractive index of a medium increases then the speed of light in it will be less. Eg: Vaccum has refractive index as 1 which is less compared to diamond but the speed of light in vaccum > speed of light in diamond

Hence, we arrive at a formula, refractive index of a medium = speed of light in vaccum / speed of light in that medium

Where  R_{m} is refractive index of medium "m"

And S_{m} is speed of light in medium "m"

Therefore, according to the question, 2 = 3*10^{8}/ Sm

Implies, S_{m}= 3*10^{8}/2 = 1.5*10^{8} m/s
