Hey

Here is your answer,

Let the fraction be x/y.

Given that ,

The denominator of a fraction is 1 less than four times the numerator.
y = 4x - 1
4x-y=1

Multiply by 2,
8x - 2y =2
__________ Equation 1

x+1/y+1 = 3/8
8(x+1)=3(y+1)
8x + 8 = 3y + 3
8x - 3y = 3-8
8x - 3y = -5
__________ Equation 2

Solving both the equations by elimination method,

8x - 2y = 2
8x - 3y = -5
________
y = 7

y=4x-1
4x=y+1
4x=7+1
4x=8
X = 8/4
X = 2

The fraction is 2/7.

Hope it helps you!
