Explanation
We Have,
==> 2 + y√3 = (√3 - 1)/(√3 + 1)
Rationalize Denominator of R.H.S.
==> 2 + y√3 = (√3 - 1)(√3 - 1)/(√3 + 1)(√3 - 1)
Using Formula
- (a + b)² = a² + b² + 2ab
- (a - b)(a + b) = ( a² - b²)
==> 2 + y√3 = (√3 - 1)²/(√3² - 1²)
==> 2 + y√3 = [(√3)² + 1² - 2 × √3 ]/(3 - 1)
==> 2 + y√3 = (3 + 1 - 2√3)/2
==> 2 + y√3 = ( 4 - 2√3)/2
==> 2 + y√3 = 2 (2 - √3)/2
==> 2 + y√3 = (2 - √3)
==> y√3 = (2 - √3) - 2
==> y√3 = -√3
==> y = - √3/√3
==> y = -1
