3x - 6y = 24

or

3(x - 2y) = 24

or

x - 2y = 8

x = 8 + 2y ___(1)

also, ⇒ 2x + y = 1 ___(2)

Putting value of x from (1) equation in (2) equation :

2(8 + 2y) + y = 1

16 + 4y + y = 1

5y = 1 - 16

y = -15/5

y = -3

Putting value y in (1) equation :

x = 8 + 2(-3)

x = 8 - 6

x = 2
