2 x + 2 = 12 - 3 x

3 x + 2 x = 12 - 10

5 x =  10

x = 2

Now put x =  2 we get

2 y = 2 x + 2

2 y = 4 + 2

2 y = 6

y = 3

Thus we get x = 2 and y = 3.
