Ques 1 - p² −17p−38

➡Breaking the middle term,

=p²−19p+2p−38

Factoring out p from the first two terms and 2 from the last two,

=p(p−19)+2(p−19)

Now, factoring out (p−19),

=(p+2)(p−19)

∴p 2 −17p−38=

(p+2)(p−19) ans.

Ques 2 -

a² − b² =(a+b)(a−b)

=(61−39)(61+39)

=22×100

=2200 Ans.
