x + y = 2xy .............(1)

x - y = 6xy .............(2)

Divide eqⁿ (1) and (2) by (xy) on both sides;

\frac{x}{xy}+\frac{y}{xy}=\frac{2xy}{xy}   \\\\\frac{1}{y}+\frac{1}{x}=2.......(3)\\\\\frac{x}{xy} -\frac{y}{xy}=\frac{6xy}{xy}\\  \\\frac{1}{y}-\frac{1}{x}=6..........(4)

Adding eqⁿ (3) and (4);

\frac{1}{y}+\frac{1}{y}=2+6\\  \\\frac{2}{y}=8\\\\y=\frac{1}{4}

Put this value of y in eqⁿ (3);

\frac{1}{y}+\frac{1}{x}=2  \\\\4+\frac{1}{x}=2\\\\x=\frac{-1}{2}
