(46) H , He

As oxidation state increases, the radius of the species decreases on account of higher proton to electron ratio.

(47) 1 is the valency.

if an element has successive ionisation energies are IE₁ , IE₂ , IE₃ ....

in such a way that,

IE₁ < (IE₂ - IE₁)

Then, definitely valency of element is 1.

[Because if we assume valency of element is 1 , then after removing an electron , made ion has stable configuration which has require lot of energy to remove another element. that's why (IE₂ - IE₁) > IE₁]

Here same case is appear.

  • IE₁ = 250
  • IE₂ - IE₁ = 820 - 250 = 570

i.e.,

(IE₂ - IE₁) > IE₁

So, valency of element is 1.
