Let 3x+y=1/a, 3x-y = 1/b.......(3)

So, By substituting

a + b = 3/4............(1)

a/2 -b/2 = -1/8

a - b = -1/4............(2)

Adding (1) & (2)

a+b+a-b=3/4-1/4

2a=1/2

a=1/4

Substitute in (1)

b=3/4-1/4

b= 1/2

Substituting a&b in (3)

3x+y=4

3x-y=2

Adding these 2 equations,

6x=6

x=1

Putting x=1 in 1st equation

3+y=4

y=1
