(x+4) (x-4) = 9
x^2 -4x+4x -16 = 9
x^2 -16 = 9
x^2 = 9+16
x = √25
x = +5 & -5
x^2 -4x+4x -16 = 9
x^2 -16 = 9
x^2 = 9+16
x = √25
x = +5 & -5

(x + 4)( x -4 )=9
we know according to algebric formula
(a + b) (a - b) = a^2 - b^2
use this here ,
(x + 4)(x - 4)=9
x^2 - (4)^2=9
x^2 - 16=9
x^2 =16 + 9 = 25
x=+_root {25} = +5 , -5
hence x has two values -5 and +5
