Simple Solution :

Given Cot Ф = (7/8).

LHS = (1 + sinФ)(1 - sin Ф)/(1 + cos Ф)(1 - cos Ф)

We know that (a + b)(a - b) = a^2 - b^2

⇒ (1 - sin^2 Ф)/(1 - cos^2 Ф)

⇒ cos^2 Ф/sin^2 Ф

⇒ cot^2 Ф

⇒ (7/8)^2

⇒ 49/64.
