Answer:the length of PM is =7 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given AB is a chord of a circle with center at P, and PM is a line segment which is perpendicular to the chord AB which intersect AB at M

And the length of the chord AB is = 48cm and the radius of the circle i,e. PA=PB =25 cm

Now we know that any perpendicular line from center of the circle to the chord of the circle will divide the chord in two equal parts

Now PM is perpendicular on The chord AB so, PM will divide AB is two equal parts, so, AM= MB = AB/2 =48/2 = 24 cm

And PB = 25 cm

And PMB forms an right angle triangle

So, by Pythagoras theorem,

PM^2 + MB^2 = PB^2

Now we have to find the length of PM,

So, PM^2 = PB^2 - MB^2 = 25^2 - 24^2 = 625- 576= 49

So, PM^2 = 49 this implies PM = 7 cm

So the length of PM is 7 cm
