(a) 13/5 - 5x = 13

On taking LCM :-

(13-25x)/5 = 13

13-25x = 65

13-65 = 25x

-52/25 = x

x = -2.08

(b) x/3+x/5 = 1000

On taking LCM :-

(5x+3x)/15 = 1000

8x/15 = 1000

8x = 1000×15

x = 15000/8

x = 1875
