Given Equation is x^2 + cx - 12.
Given that x + 3 is a factor of f(x).
= > x + 3 = 0
= > x = -3.
plug x = -3 in f(x), we get
f(-3) = (-3)^2 + c(-3) - 12 = 0
= 9 - 3c - 12 = 0
= -3 - 3c = 0
= -3c = 3
c = -1.
Therefore the value of c = -1.
Hope this helps!
