Let h1 and h2 be the max. height attained by stones.

For first stone max. Height that is h1 will be equal to u1 square/2g

For second stone max. Height that is h2 will be equal to u2 square/2g.

h1/h2 = u1 square / u2 square

Use equation of motion

S = (v² - u²)/(2a)

Stone is thrown upwards. Direction of velocity is opposite to the direction of acceleration due to gravity. So take a = -g

You’ll get H₁ : H₂ = u₁² : u₂²
