Let √2 is a rational
√2=p/q (p, q are co-prime)
on squaring both sides
2=p²/q²
p²=2q²
p² is divisible by 2
p is divisible by 2
p=2m
(2m)²=2q²
4m²=2q²
2m²=q²
both p and q has common factor so
√2 is irrational
