Let the no. of blue balls be x.

Then the no. of white balls becomes 11x.

Let the no. of red balls be y.

Here, x < y < 11x.

Given that x + y + 11x = 50

⇒ 12x + y = 50

⇒ y = 50 - 12x

∴ x < y < 11x   ⇒   x < 50 - 12x < 11x

Okay, now let's find the actual value of x by giving some values.

Here x can be given the values upto 4, because it x is 5, so 12 exceeds 50 and y becomes negative.

Let's see in which case the contraction doesn't occur.

If x = 1,

x < 50 - 12x < 11x   ⇒   1 < 38 < 11

So 1 can't be.

If x = 2,

x < 50 - 12x < 11x   ⇒   2 < 26 < 22

So 2 can't be.

If x = 4,

x < 50 - 12x < 11x   ⇒   4 < 2 < 44

So 4 can't be.

But, if x = 3,

x < 50 - 12x < 11x   ⇒   3 < 14 < 33

Yes, 3 can't be.

∴ No. of blue balls = 3

No. of white balls = 33

& No. of red balls = 14

∴ Probability of getting a red ball = 14 / 50.
