Let the Parallelogram be ABCD
Length of Diagonal AC = 70 cm
perpendicular distance from B = 27 cm
Complete BD diagonal
Since Diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other, BD = 54 cm.
moreover, let the bisect point be E, then AE = 35 cm
In triangle AEB, (Pythagoras Theorem)
(AB)² = (AE)² + (BE)²
(AB)² = (35)² + (27)²
(AB)² = 1225 + 729
(AB)² = 1954
AB = ✓1954
AB = 44.2 cm (Approx)
AB = CD = 44.2 cm & BC = AD (Parallelogram opp. sides)
Also, Triangle AEB is congruent to Triangle CEB.(do it yourself, how)
So, the sides will be all equal
AB=BC=CD=AD = 44.2 cm
ALSO, SINCE ALL SIDES ARE EQUAL AND DIAGONALS ARE UNEQUAL, IT IS A RHOMBUS.
After proving that it is a Rhombus, we can simply apply the formula of area of a Rhombus to find out the area as we have everything required.
