 \frac{3x + 5}{2x + 7}  = 4

By cross multiplication

4(2x + 7) = 3x + 5

8x + 28 = 3x + 5

8x - 3x = 5 - 28

5x =  - 23

x =  \frac{ - 23}{5}

x =  - 4.6
