Let the breadth of a rectangle be X .
then length = 6 + X

new length = 6 + X - 8 = X - 2
new breadth = X - 2
Area = 144 sq.m
=( X - 2) ( X - 2 ) = 144
= (X - 2 ) ( X - 2 ) = 12 x 12
= This shows that X - 2 = 12
X = 12 + 2 = 14 cm
Breadth = 14 cm.
Length = 14 + 6 = 20 cm.
