Answer:

3.5 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the side of a square be /x/ cm

then its area = x^2 cm^2

now the side has been increased by 8cm⇒ s =(x+8)cm

its area has been increased by 120sqcm⇒(x+8)^2 =x^2+120

upon solving x^2+16x+64 = x^2+120

⇒ 16x =56

⇒x =7/2 =3.5 cm

Answer:

yeaah..u r correct ,3.5 is the answer

Step-by-step explanation:

when a is the side,area =a²

(a+8)²=a²+120

a²+16a+64=a²+120

16a=120-64=56

a = 56/16 = 3.5
