SOLUTION:-

Let the point P divide AB in the ratio k:1.

Then the coordinate of P are;

 =  > P[\frac{k(4) + 1( - 3)}{k + 1} , \frac{k( - 9) + 1(5)}{k + 1}  ]\\  \\   =  > P [ \frac{4k - 3}{k + 1}  ,  \frac{ - 9k + 5}{k + 1} ]

So,

The coordinates of P are given as (2,-5)

Therefore,

 \frac{4k - 3}{k + 1}  = 2 \: and \:  \frac{ - 9k + 5}{k + 1}  =  - 5 \\  \\  =  > 4k - 3 = 2k + 2 \:  \: and \:  \:  - 9k + 5 =  - 5k - 5 \\  \\  =  > 4k - 2k = 2 + 3 \:  \: and \:  \:  - 9k + 5k =  - 5 - 5 \\  \\  =  >2k = 5 \:  \: and \:  \:  - 4k =  - 10 \\  \\  =  > k =  \frac{5}{2}  \:  \: and \:  \: k =  \frac{10}{4}  =  \frac{5}{2}  \\  \\

Hence,

The point P divides AB in the ratio 5:2.

Hope it helps ☺️
