The area of F-t curve is A, where 'F' is the force acting on one mass due to the other
colliding bodies of mass M is at rest initially, its speed just after the collision is :
2A
(A) A/M
(B) M/A

The area of F-t curve is A/M.

  • When a force is applied to an object of mass m for a certain length of time (t) the body feels an impulse and the effect is that the object's momentum increases by a percentage mDv where Dv is the object's velocity change.
  • Area of F − t curve gives the impulse or the energy transmitted by the moving mass to the mass  M  will be  A , thus the velocity of M just after collision will be - Momentum / Mass = A/M
