from \: second \: eqn \: y -  \frac{y}{2}  + 12 = 248 \\ y(1 -  \frac{1}{2} ) = 248 - 12 \\  \frac{y}{2}  = 236 \\ y = 2 \times 236 =47 2 \\now \\ x -  \frac{x}{3}  + 96 = y  \\ x(1 -  \frac{1}{3} ) = 472 - 96 \\ x( \frac{2}{ 3} ) = 472 - 96 \\ x = 564
