So,

By cross multiplication method

 \frac{5 \times 42 + 6 \times 36}{ 36\times 42}

  = \frac{210 + 216}{1512}  \\  =   \frac{416}{1512}   =  \frac{213}{756}  =  \frac{71}{252}
