Multiply equation 1 with 3

6x+9y=12

Now solve equation 1 and 2

6x+9y=12

6x-12y=5

Multiply eqn 1 with minus

-6x-9y=-12

6x-12y=5

Therefore y=1/3

Substitute y in the eqn1

2x+3(1/3)=4

2x+1=4

2x=4-1

2x=3

x=3/2
