 {x}^{2}  - 2x + 1 \\  {x}^{2}  -   x - x + 1 \\

above are middle termd/ factors

 {x}^{2}  - 2x + 1 \\  \\ =   {x}^{2}  + ( - x - x) + 1 \\  \\  =  {x}^{2}  - x - x + 1  \\  \\  = x(x - 1)   -  1(x - 1) \\  \\  = (x - 1)(x - 1) \\  \\ x = 1 \: and \: x = 1
