Solve: what is the greatest length of a tape whose whole length can be measure the lengths 56 cm and 140 cm exactly ?

Find the prime factors of 56 and 140:

56 = 2³ x 7

140 = 2² x 5 x 7

Find the HCF :

HCF = 2² x 7 = 28 cm

The greatest length of the tape is 28cm
