|x - 1 | + |x - 2 | ≥ 4

when x ≥ 2 
we get 

⇒ x - 1 + x - 2 ≥ 4 ⇒ x ≥ 7/2 

when 1 ≤ x < 2

we get 

⇒ x - 1 - x  + 2 ≥ 4 

⇒ -3 ≥ 4 which is invalid  , so cant be the solution 

so again when x < 1 

⇒ -x + 1 - x + 2 ≥ 4 
⇒ x ≤ -1 

so x ∈ (-∞ , 1 ] ∪ [7/2 , ∞)
