first we solve eq(2)

2x+9=5

2x=5-9

2x=-4

x=-4/2=-2

now we put the value of x in eq (1)

x+4y=3

-2+4y=3

4y=3+2

y=5/4

answer is (x,y)=-(4,5/4)
