Solution : Consider triangle BDA and CEA,

∠ADB = ∠ AEC ------------------- given in fig

side AD = side AE -------------- given in fig

∴ by ASA (angle side and angle ) property

Δ BDA = ΔCEA

∴ Corresponding sides AB = AC and BD = EC

Substituting the values, we get

1) AB = AC

  5x-6 = 19

  5x = 19+6

      = 25

  x = 25/5

     = 5 cm

2) BD = EC

   18 = 7y +4

    7y = 18-4

         = 14

      y = 14/7

         = 2 cm
