solve :x+y=5and x–y–1=0 by elimination method

☆ LINEAR EQUATIONS IN ONE VARIABLE ☆

x + y = 5. ... ( l )

x - y - 1 = 0

x - y = 1. ... ( 'll )

Adding equations ( l ) & ( 'll ) we get

x + y = 5
+
x - y = 1
_______
2x + 0 = 6

2x = 6

》 x = 6/2

》x = 3

Putting x = 3 in equation ( l ) we get

3 + y = 5

》y = 5 - 3

》y = 2

So x = 3 & y = 2
