solve x²+4x-5,by the method of completing the square

x2 – 4x – 5 = (x – 2)² – 9

Now we can solve the equation

(x – 2)²= 9x – 2= ± √9x – 2= ± 3x= 2 ± 3
x= 5   or   –1
