The number of books received by each student = 70

Let the number of students in a school be x and the number of books distributed among the students be y.

Number of books received by each student = y/x

If the number of books = 800 + y , then the number of books received by each student = (y/x) + 10 = (800+y)/x

=> y/x - (800+y)/x = -10

=> y-800-y = -10x

=> x = 80

If the number of student = x - 10 , then the number of books received = (y/x) + 10 = y/(x-10)

=> (y/x) - y/(x-10) = -10

=> y/80 - y/70 = -10

=> -y/560 = -10

=> y = 5600

Number of books received by each student = 5600/80 = 70
