Some chocolates are distributed equally among some students. Had the number of
students been 5 less, then each would get 6 chocolates and had the number of students
be 3 more, then each would get 3 chocolates. Find the number of chocolates and the
number of students.​

No. of chocolates = c

1)            s-5 = c/6

             s = (c/6)+5

2)           s+3 = c/3

             s+3 = c/3

             s = (c/3)-3                      s = (c/6)+5

(c/3)-3 = (c/6)+5

2c-18 = c+30

c-18 = 30

c = 48

substitute c = 48 into equation 2

s+3 = 48/3

s = 16-3

s = 13

so there are 13 students and 48 chocolates
