The mordern city ahemdabad founded in 1411 along the east bank of sabarmati river.the river had been important source of water, economic, and recreational activities in the past. Over the yer the city expanded and river neglected .
The first proposal for developing was given in 1961 by prominent citizens of the city. freanch architect Berend kohn proposed and ecological valley in sabarmati basin strached from dharoi dam to gulf of cambay . in 1960's.
Ahemdabad municipal corporation (AMC) sabarmati river fornt project in may 1997.funded by the government of India with a sees capital of (10 million's)for river fornt devopment. And it finished and open on 15 Augest 2012.And the sabarmati river ruin through the center of ahemdabad. and it make ahemdabad more nature heritage and beautiful.
