There are many marine islands that are actually peaks of sea mountains. These are mountains which rise from the ocean floor but do not reach the sea level. Seamountsare generally extinct volcanoes which rise abruplty from the ocean bed. Some mountain peaks hardly reach the sea level and some erode deep into the sea.
