Answer:

Some oxides like Al2O3 reacts with both acids and bases called amphoteric oxides .They show charcterstics of both acids and bases.

Al2O3+6HCl->2[Al(H2O)6]^3+ +6Cl^-

Al2O3 +6 NaOH+3H2O->2Na3[Al(OH)6]

Explanation:

Amphoteric oxides

Amphoteric oxides are those Metal oxides that can undergo chemical reaction with both acids and bases in order to produce salts and water. There are several metals that exhibit this property. Some of the common examples are of  lead oxide and zinc oxide

The chemical reactions of Zinc oxide are;

With Acid

Reaction of ZnO with hydrochloric acid

ZnO + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H2O.

With Base

Reaction of ZnO With sodium hydroxide

ZnO + 2NaOH = Na2ZnO2 + H2O.
