The organisms which live together and share shelter and nutrients are called symbionts. This type of relation is called symbiotic relationship.
For example : Lichens which is the association of algae and fungi. Here in this relation algae provide food for fungi as it has got chlorophyll and fungi provides the nutrients required for the food preparation and fungi also provide shelter for algae. Thus we can say in this kind of relation the organism has a mutual understanding between them and both are benefited in one or the other way.
