Some paper is wound around (a) a wooden cylinder (b) an
aluminium cylinder. Each of the cylinders is held over a bunsen flame for 10 seconds . What will you observe ? Explain your answer.

wooden cylinder will catch fire so hence the paper will turn onto ashes as wood is considered as to b a good conductor of heat were as the aluminum cylinder will not catch fire as it is consider to b a bad conductor of heat

According to the circumstances mentioned in the question we will observe that the paper which is wrapped around the wooden cylinder will quickly catch fire.

Because,the wood is a bad conductor of heat and that's why the majority of the heat will be absorbed by the paper which will accelerate the combustion of that paper.

On the other hand,the aluminium is a good conductor of heat and the aluminium cylinder will soak the heat which is coming through the paper and in this case the combustion will take more time than the previous case.
