She was sitting there, as every other day, her bowl in hand, begging. Men and women simply walked past her as if she didn't exist. She looked hopefully from one face to another searching for kindness. It was almost ten in the night and she thought that like most days, she would have to go hungry tonight as well. It was then that someone touched her on her shoulder. It was a little girl.
'Dadi'. She called. It felt so nice to be acknowledged with a title that she smiled.
The little girl's parents were calling her from a distance.
'Would you like the rest of my biscuit packet? Mummy is asking me to throw it away but I don't want to. Will you have it?'
'Sure.' She said taking it with eagerness.
'Here. Hope you like the flavour. Bbye!' The little girl ran away.
The biscuit packet was pretty big and enough was left behind. She ate it on one go. It was amazing how the little girl neither lost nor gained anything with this simple act but the old woman went to sleep with a smile she usually did not have.
