Well teeth are necessary for mastication in the mouth.to create a large surface area for the action of salivary amylase and to break food down to smaller particles for ease of swallowing.along the rest of the elementary canal different types of food are digested by different enzymes for example the gastric juice for proteins which also contains rennin, person and HCL.enzymes that digest food in the mouth are not the same as those in the stomach ,pancreas ,large intestine.
