Sometimes the potatoes kept in a basket during rainy season start giving out small shoots due to the extra moisture already added with them.
This can be somewhat related to germination because the potatoes get water and due to the high moisture content shoots start growing from the surface of the potato.
These small shoots are like new plants and can result in the fresh vegetable.
