Sometimes the price of Onion soars to Rs 80/- Per Kg and deps to Rs 20/- Per Kg Why?

Sometimes when the crops are damaged in a rain or other calamities, farmers have to grow all the onions again, as all the old ones get damaged. Thus they face a loss. Every farmer needs profit, so they sell the onions at twice the original price, or thrice.
