The SP of the article is Rs. 8176.909

Given

  • Monu spent Rs3780 for repairing the article
  • Monu sold it to Ravi at a loss of 18.18%
  • Now CP of the article for Ravi is 20% more than the SP of the article for sonu. Had sonu sold the article at 30% loss

To Find

SP for Sonu

Solution

Formulas to use

  • SP = CP + Profit
  • SP = CP - loss
  • SP = (100 + profit%) of CP
  • SP = (100 - loss%) of CP

Here since the question at last asked us to consider that Sonu incurred a loss, we will disregard the first statement.

Let the CP for Sonu be Rs. x

Sonu sold it at a loss for 30% hence SP for Sonu = 70x/100 = 7x/10 = CP for Monu

Amount Monu spent on the article = Rs. 7x/10 + rs. 3780

CP for Ravi is (100-18.18)% of amount he spent = 81.8% of (7x/10 + 3780)

= 81.8/100 X (7x/10 + 3780)

= 0.5726x + 3092.04

According to the problem CP for Ravi is 20% more than SP for Sonu

Therefore,

0.5726x + 3092.04 = 120% of 0.7x

or, 0.5726x + 3092.04 = 0.84x

or, 0.84x - 0.5726x = 3092.04

or, 0.2674x = 3092.04

or, x = 3092.04/0.2647

or, x = 11681.299

Therefore, SP of the article for Sonu = 0.7x = Rs. 8176.909

Hence the SP of the article is Rs. 8176.909
