1) Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from their higher concentrations to their lower concentrations through a semi-permeable layer

2) Semi-permeable membrane is one which allow the passage of molecules selectively. It allows solvent ( like water) to pass through it but prevent solute( like sugar and salt)

3) Importance of water to plants
>Photosynthesis
>Transpiration
>Transportation
>Mechanical stiffness
>Germination

4) Adaptation of root hairs
>It contains a highly concentrated cell sap
>It has thin walls

1. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from their region of higher concentration to their region of lower concentration across a semi permeable membrane.

2. Semi permeable membrane is a membrane which allows the movement of solvent particles across it but restricts the movement of solute particles.

3. Water-
★IT PROVIDES MECHANICAL STIFFNESS TO SOFT TISSUES

★IT PROVIDES TURGIDITY TO PLANT

★IT IS A RAW MATERIAL FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS

★IT IS THE MEDIUM FOR TRANSPORTATAION OF VARIOUS SUBSTANCE IN THE PLANT LIKE MINERALS.

4. Adaptations-

★ PRESENCE OF NUMEROUS ROOT HAIRS

★PRESENCE OF HYPERTONIC SOLUTION INSIDE ROOT HAIRS ( CELL SAP IN VACOULES)

★PRESENCE OF FREELY PERMEABLE CELL WALL AND SEMI PERMEABLE CELL MEMBRANE
