first of all sun does not burn but produces heat
now coming to Ur question
matchstick does not burn bcoz of absence of oxygen in the space.......
sun produces heat as the hydrogen atoms present in the sun continuously keep on converting into helium atoms which releases a lot of heat due to change in atomic mass( this can be calculated using Newton's formula E= mc²)
