Jharkhand, state of India, located in the north eastern part of the country. Jharkhand is bordered by the states of Biharto the north,West Bengal to the east,Odisha to the south,Chhattisgarh to the west, and Uttar Pradesh to the north west. Its capital is Ranchi.Jharkhand, India. Jharkhand, one of India’s newest states, was carved out of the southern portion of Bihar in 2000. Statehood was the culmination of a long struggle carried on primarily by the A divasis, or Scheduled Tribes(an official term applied primarily to indigenous communities that fall outside the predominant Indian castehierarchy). Indian independence brought relatively little socioeconomic benefit to the people of the Jharkhand area, which led to wide spread discontent with the Bihar administration, particularly among the tribal peoples. The tribal groups initiated a call for independence from Bihar, and in the 1980s they became militant in their demand. In the 1990s, the separation movement spread to non tribal communities, ultimately precipitating the creation of a new state. Area 28,833 square miles (74,677 square km). Pop. (2011) 32,966,238.

Answer: Jharkhand ( "Bushland" or "The land of forest") is a state in eastern India. The state shares its border with the states of Bihar to the north, Uttar Pradesh to the northwest, Chhattisgarh to the west, Odisha to the south and West Bengal to the east. It has an area of 79,710 km2 (30,778 sq mi). It is the 15th largest state by area, and the 14th largest by population. Hindi is the official language of the state. The city of Ranchi is its capital and Dumka its sub capital. The state is known for its waterfalls, hills and holy places; Baidyanath Dham, Parasnath and Rajrappa are major religious sites.

Jharkhand suffers from what is sometimes termed a resource curse; it accounts for more than 40% of the mineral resources of India, but 39.1% of its population is below the poverty line and 19.6% of children under five years of age are malnourished. The state is primarily rural, with only 24% of the population living in cities. Jharkhand is among the leading states in economic growth. In 2017–18, the GSDP growth rate of state was at 10.22%.
